Apple is set to release new iPad Pro and iPad Air models in May, with anticipated upgrades and price increases.

Apple fans, make sure to save the date for the second week of May as the popular tech company prepares for a major announcement. As reported in Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter by tech guru Mark Gurman, Apple is getting ready to reveal the latest versions of its iPad Pro and iPad Air models.

Advanced display technology is expected

This upcoming release promises to be a defining moment for Apple’s tablet offerings, especially given the extended nearly eighteen-month absence of new iPad hardware updates. Expectations are high as industry insiders hint at innovative improvements and fresh designs that will redefine the iPad.

Price points reviewed as the launch approaches

Among the expected releases are revamped 11- and 13-inch iPad Pro models with advanced OLED displays reminiscent of those found in the iPhone lineup. These displays are expected to deliver richer contrasts and brightness, improving the visual experience of users. Also on the horizon is the larger 12.9-inch iPad Air, which offers an attractive alternative with its spacious screen space.

Alongside these new devices, Apple plans to introduce updated iterations of its Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil accessories, which promise additional functionality and stylish design updates.

However, with innovation, price points may rise, as Gurman hinted in today’s newsletter. Although exact figures are not disclosed, consumers should be prepared for possible increases compared to current models. The current 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $799, while the 12.9-inch variant starts at $1,099.

Despite the potential price hikes, Apple aims to serve a wider audience by introducing a more affordable 12.9-inch iPad Air that offers a larger screen size without breaking the bank. The details of the processor configuration, whether it is the rumored M2 or M3 chip, are still shrouded in mystery.

Excitingly, tech industry whispers suggest additional features for the new accessories, including a supposed squeeze gesture function for the Apple Pencil. In addition, iPad Pro’s redesigned Magic Keyboard promises to blur the lines between tablet and laptop, with an Aluminum base and extended trackpad to improve productivity.

While the spotlight shines on the upcoming iPad Pro and iPad Air releases, updates to the base model iPad and iPad mini are scheduled for release later this year. Gurman’s insights point to modest improvements, as the iPad Mini gets a minor processor upgrade to keep pace with changing user demands.
